Installing Silverlight

Our web application, sobees web, is built on Silverlight 3, you therefore need to install it before using sobees web. But don’t worry, it is really quick and easy! If you don’t already have Silverlight installed, we will automatically display the following screen when you visit our web site.

All you need to do is select the “Click to install” button. This will redirect you to the Microsoft page where you can download Silverlight.

Real-time search

One of the available services in sobees is called “Real-time search”. Composed (at the moment) of Twitter search, Friendfeed search, OneRiot and Facterylabs, it helps you search real-time results for any topic. Thanks to it, you will be the first one informed if something happens!

Now, how does it work? Well, the first thing you need to do is to click on Add a service and to select the “Real-time search”.

Delete sobees web settings

When using sobees web, all your settings are stored locally on the computer, which is why we recommend you only use it when working on your personal computer. However, if, for any reason, you would like to remove all your settings from your computer, here is a quick guide on how to do it.

The first thing you need to do is to right click (Ctrl+Click) wherever you want on sobees web. This, as you can see in the following screen shot, will open a box saying:
  • Silverlight
  • Install sobees web alpha onto this computer

Facebook connection OOB

Our web application, sobees web, is built on Silverlight and therefore offers the possibility to bring the application OUT OF THE BROWSER and install it on your desktop. Little drawback however (but which can be corrected easily): to get Facebook to work OUT of the browser, you will first need to do the connection when the application is still IN the browser; you will not be able to get Facebook to connect otherwise, since Silverlight’s OOB does not manage browser pop-ups.

So, to summarize:

1) Go to www.sobees.com and connect to Facebook (make sure that you enable/check your pop-ups when connecting to Facebook for the first time with sobees web).

Automatic signature

Working in a company? Sharing a Twitter account? Having to sign your tweets? Well, this feature is for you: by setting a signature in sobees web, it will be automatically displayed at the end of your Tweets!

The first thing you should do in order to set your signature is to head to the Options and select the “Accounts” tab.

You there have the possibility to “customize” the settings for each one of your accounts, so click on the one which Tweets/status updates should be automatically signed.

You will find an “Automatic signature” section. Make sure you check the small box and enter your signature.

Copy and paste

The way we manage copy and paste in sobees can seem a little unusual but is actually really easy to use!

All you need to do is right click on the text you would like to copy and select Copy.

Copy

Please note that, for now, we only offer you the possibility to copy a whole Tweet/text, which means that you will not be able to copy a portion of the text only.

For sobees web: Unfortunately, it is not possible to copy text in sobees web yet. But we are working on it!

Notifications

One of the features included in sobees is the notifications. But where do we find them? They actually are optional, so you will first need to enable and configure them. In order to do it, head to the Options (the button is located at the top of the window).

First, make sure that you checked the “Enable notifications” box in the General tab.

After that, switch to the Accounts tab. There, you will have the possibility to configure different notifications for each of your accounts (Facebook included).

Multiple status update

This is an option, which you will probably love and use a lot! It helps you tell all your Twitter, Facebook and MySpace friends what you are doing, in a single status update.

You can do it very easily by following these few steps:
